THE GIFT OF GIFTING: A NEW NENWE DIASPORAN ASSOCIATION - AMOJI LO L'IDJE FINDS FULFILLMENT IN ITS REFLECTION OF CHRISTMAS CHARITY IN AMOJI COMMUNITY .
One hundred forty (140) families, and twenty-two (22) women in Amoji Nenwe as of Wednesday, December 22, 2021, may never get to know the private individuals who joined hands, remotely, to deliver unexpected, pleasant Christmas gifts with the dignity usually reserved for the royalties. In our view, at the NOL Board of Administrators, that is charity at its finest, and we stand up to applaud that.
A still in the initial founding phase, an enlarging number of like-minded individuals with their native roots in Amoji Nenwe but currently living outside the physical boundaries of Nigeria chose charity of that awesome scale as their first official outing in their homeland.
Each of those 140 families was gifted with a 12 kg bag of rice, a food stable in Nigeria; to help make decent Christmas meals for their families. The 22 women, nominated by the village representatives , each got a complete set pieces of choice "ankara"cloths (wrapper, as widely called, colloquially).
The NOL Board of Administrators is very proud, and thankful to this group for their generosity, but on top of that, for their thoughtful decision to gift with the most needed items at this perilous time of food insecurity in our land.
Not surprisingly, they're also (mostly) our NOL community members, and headliners in the community. The inspiration to go into the community, any community, and gift with random kindness, and give back with the best of your skills and other resources remain part of the core founding vision of the NOL . The NOL Board stands by with any logistic assistance that this still-forming Association might need to facilitate its coming into solid existence.
In the interim, the Association is simply designated as "Amoji lo l'idje" (roughly translated: Amoji in diaspora). To its good credit, the Association has our very own Charles O Chukwubike, the Moderator of NOL, as the Advisor and Coordinator.Regardless of the quality of the conception of this idea - which is highly rated - it wouldn't have materialized without a matching dedicated, diligent corps of volunteers on the ground who served, without demanding payment, as the final conveyors of those gifts, as intended, to the beneficiaries. For honorable mention, the NOL Board would like recognize and to thank Mr. Osondu Chukwu, and Hon. Osondu Ezeh (the PG of Amoji Town Hall), and their team members who worked tirelessly to deliver the goods, timely, efficiently !
