PA' GODWIN NWARUEZE RIP

*A TRIBUTE  TO A NOBLE FINE-LOOKING  MAN OF TRUTH PA’ GODWIN NWARUEZE  (aka.OKONOGWU) BY THE CHUKWUBIKE FAMILY*;

Pa Godwin Nwarueze has  always  been a prominent and permanent figure in the lives  and memories of all of us in the family and the Umuekwete kindred especially those at ugwuavia in general. This straight but soft spoken   fine looking yellow  gentleman and his beautiful dark skinned   Emudo (Alinta family) wife, we were told lived  in Calabar. Their return home each time  meant festivities  to all of  us kids and the joyful companies  of their children who were of our age mates were always wonderful.

At some point we discovered them in the  early and mid ‘60s at Onitsha  where his house was a compulsory night  stopover whenever our late father Senator MBC had  to take the pontoon to cross the Niger river en route  to Lagos  for the parliamentary (Senate) debate sessions. He  was  a business man in that city where he was mentoring many young Nenwe  businessmen and traders .   We as kids  looked forward  to this Onitsha stop-over where we met also many  members of the Nenwe community like the  ever active  Mazi Goddy Nwarunta (Barclays Bank), etc.

Later we found him in Lagos and his residence automatically became our home in Lagos. He had  a great  sense of sacrifice  and wouldn't even mind our trooping in with friends  looking for accommodation  for justified  visits like , job search and visa / passport applications (passport office was only in Lagos then) . He treated everyone like a father and talked to us  as   if we were equals. However true to his main character he never tolerated  indiscipline and would call you out for good directions  in the slightest sign of deviance. He was what we called a straight and truthful  “no nonsense man”.  After our business in Lagos island  we would  usually go for  our lunch at his shop in Balogun. He was also mentoring many Nenwe people  in trading there again.

Pa Nwarueze  (Goddy Nwarueze  as was fondly  called ) was  a *great father figure*  to all of  us then  and he played the role  very well whenever we stepped into Eko.

As time  passed  we the younger ones  *“baptised” him   with the alias, OKONGWU*, a sign of his significant position as our elder in the  then Lagos diaspora. He  continued  to play this role  till his  retirement and return to Nenwe about 15 years ago when he actually became the oldest  man  in our Umuekwete family,  Amabo in general and even in the  St Michaels catholic parish where he dedicated most of his  time since retirement.

It is really painful to miss our OKONGWU  but his *handsome spirit, straight forwardness, truthfulness,  and protectiveness* will continue  to live in our memories and lives.

As we commensurate with the Nwaruezes, we urge you to look beyond his death and live up the legacies he bequeathed to you his survivors. We believe he is already in the bosom of his Creator till the resurrection day. His testimonies lives after him.

May his  soul rest in peace. Kaa lu woo!

In search of greater Nenwe* . _*By Dr. Dike Felix Okechukwu*_

*My observations, my suggestions: In search of greater Nenwe* .

 _*By

Dr. Dike Felix Okechukwu*_

Good evening umulem.

I bring with this message, compliments of the season, best wishes and heartily felicitations.

I write to buttress a few point of which I am convinced that proper attention is not being paid to, in our home town at present.  While We neglect these issues however, consequenses from our actions and inactions on these issues will definately greet our community and children some few years to come.

Before I proceed, I will like to abinitio cleave your indulgence to read,  albeit from, a perspective that seeks to critically analize goings-on in our Community,  from a mindset that beams tourchlight on some kind of reviewing our journey as a community of related brothers in a big family, from the perspective of simply taking stock of our collective Journey, perharps, so far.

It may be pertinent to ask ourselves some fundamental  questions such as: What are we doing collectively as members of Nenwe community with respect to our rapidly increasing restive youth?, where are we headed?, what are our priorities?, what had so far been the outcomes of our collective actions and inactions both: now, in the middle term, in the long run, and in the very long run when our generation must have given way to our children in answer to the natural call, and more importantly, what takes the bulk of our collective resources (such as time, money, energy) as a Community.

I will begin my points with a butress on the quintessential components of a society that any progressive leadership of such community must pay  attention to. They include:

Security which ensures preservation of lives and properties, Infrastructure which is necessary for the welfare of members of the society,  quality education which helps to propagate and preserve values, knowledge and innovations in the Society, good health care which will ensure maintainance of human bodies in the society and lastly strong institutions which will guarantee stable and livable environment as well as provide viable rules and mechanisms for living (legislative & executive government) and for seeking redress for offenses commited in the society (Judiciary).

Despite these clear demacations in the importance and functions of the various sectors of a progressive society,  education seems to play more important but subtle role; apart from the fact that the level of education available to a society determines the level of progress that can be recorded in the other sectors of the society, education also is critical in  taking care of intangible but important aspects of the society such as preserving good values of the society and ensuring that existing knowledge as well as innovative ideas and skills needed to keep advancing the society in a way of progress are always available and progressively exploited.

This perharps explains why it  is said that every society does not grow beyound the knowledge treshold of the society.

It is pertinent to note that when I speak of education, I do not refer to only the body of knowledge taught in classrooms. Nop, I speak to various mediums, platforms, opportunities and environments where learning experiences take place. Our fore fathers used their 'Obi' as classrooms where important information about family and societal values are carefully passed on to the younger ones in our society. And so, I am using the meaning of education in Its broadest sense.

We learnt of the early exploits of our Southern brothers from Yoruba tribe in education, thanks to the policy of free Education declared by the then premier of western region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Up until today, the Yoruba Nation still benefit from that policy which made it possible for many Yorubas to access good education without paying much. This ensured that the level of literacy among our grand fathers had been relatively higher for Yorubas compared to other regions in Nigeria. Exposure and development have been found to have direct relationship with literacy level of societies and an Investment in education always trigger developmental strands for the society as human capacity development always impacts the econony in reciprocal level. If you invest more in educating your people, you reap more from the higher capacity and skills of the people trained in contributing to the progress of such society, and vice versa.

Moving forward, while the then eastern region did not declear total free education from primary to tertiary level, some privilaged members of various towns in Igbo land keyed into the free education project by ensuring that indigent students who score high in jamb and got  requirement for entering various Institutions of higher learning in Nigeria are not denied access to entering Universities because of money.

I remember vividly when I was a Masters degree student at the University of Nigeria, one of my classmates from Anambra State told me that Its not possible that any child Who passes jamb and weac in his Community would not proceed to study choice course he/she gets admission into because of money. He proudly brags about this and on close inspection, I discovered that this was not only true, It actually also was a motivating factor for business tycoons in their Community as they jottle for bragging rights in announcing highest conbtributor in this or that Academic session.

A  common slogan among them is 'mmadu o ne Ka izulu' (How  many persons Did you train).

To ensure scrutiny and transparency in handling affairs in this system, reverend fathers and other persons of varifiable intergrity are coopted into the screening process to ensure that correct candidates benefit from that help scheme.

I gave this example not to undermine efforts made by some of our notable brothers nor to trade comparism, the example was only to point out that this kind of Community Service can work even in Igbo land especially when the will is there.

Back to our story in interrogating our priorities and in defining our intended future as a Community. I believe first and foremost that some of Nenwe noble sons and daughters deserve commendation in their various contributions either on individual or on a collective basis, and in full measure, I doff my cap for them.

However, it seems to me that no collective and substantial effort to Improve education in our Community has defiled the vail of public reservations and has been able to sail through public disagreements (our inability to agree against odds) usually steming from personal interests, So that collective efforts to improving education in Nenwe-land with Its concomitant multiplier effects will be felt by our teeming youth with hungry ambitions.

That brings us to the aformentioned questions in redefining our current state, efforts and intentions. Are We really putting our resources ; both energy, time, money and skills in the best places we ought to put them as far as Nenwe is Concerned?.

A wise man said 'these Children We produce in our Community but fail to provide some Kind of education for, be it skills or craft, with which they can effectively integrate into the society in future, will only turn on us in search of means for their survival. Albeit, some will move towards 'upping their game for  survival' through social  vices Instead of  upping their skills.

Unless another Community is created for these Children/youth and we have them transported to such Community where they Could not reach home, until such a time, If It is possible, We must prepare to meet these 'Children/youth' from time to time especially anytime we would want to visit home in our Community.

My point is, as We would normally plan for every member of our families both the Child we love most and the Child we love less, the future of the aggregate Children born into our Community should give us some sense of concern especially with respect to what they recieve as education; be it skill, craft or professional courses.

That it doesn't concern me/us is already a decision. If all of us says it doesn't concern us, it only means We have taken unanimous decision. Our actions and inactions will only greet us tomorrow.

I have not made a case for laziness on the part of parents 'breeding' Children that they could not train in our Community, I have only raised points that worry my imagination whenever I remember the growing number of restive youth in our hometown.

I was in my home at Emudo last week and the barrage of young adults with close to no functional education or skills with which to earn a living or craft to produce what they can sell to feed their families is becoming alarming.

In one of our platforms, I have suggested Educational intervention projects which I am convinced will go a long way in ameliorating the need gap in education. These projects were thought out to require prudent support but will surely give great return especially in the future. For Example, If We find a way of ensuring that Nenwe supports at least 50 first Class indigent students over 10 years in engineering, medicine, nursing, Economics, Agriculture and law, I believe that a greater network of those will help to bring back Values from their various desciplnes as they advance in those disciplines. Many of them will have many reasons to further multiply such gestures in the future for their younger ones. At least  a few will think home having benefitted  from home.

With all due respect, I seek not to make little of other important sectors  and needs in our Community such as Infrastructure,  I however, speak of areas I have expertise in and I am confident I can contribute in effectively.

With the rate of Idle hands We are producing back home, We may be sitting on  time bomb of which mirage of pockets of social vices recorded recently may only be tips of the iceberg in stock.

I encourage various platforms and our distinguished to prioritize Education in our Community. We will reap from this as a Community in future.

Thank you for reading.

LAUNCHING/INAUGURATION OF THE PROPOSED RELIEF/SKILLS ACQUISITION CENTRE OF AMOJI NENWE TOWN UNION WOMEN WING

3. The moral decadence among our youths is growing at an alarming rate. For the girls, laziness and idleness have contributed to a high rate of teenage pregnancies among young unmarried females.

These and other disturbing observations have stirred up our desire towards thinking of solutions that will improve the life and livelihood of our rural sisters and their children.

We, the women wing of ANTU National are therefore requesting the support of our people to actualize the under listed proposal;

 1.  Setting up a skill acquisition Centre where the following activities will be run.

a). Training younger women on skills that include Hair dressing, Tailoring (Fashion Designing), Decorations, Cosmetology, Bead-making etc.

b). Training our women farmers on some modern farming techniques, food processing and preservation. They will also be taught how to obtain high yielding crop seedlings and fertilizer procurement at cheaper rates. We are already liaising with the relevant state government ministries and other agencies for their continued support.

2.  We shall also be organizing trainings on some aspects of Animal Husbandry. Trainings on High-yielding species in Poultry, Snail farming, Fishery and Mushroom, etc.

So far, we are pleased to inform you that the Amoji Nenwe Community has already donated a large piece of land at a central place that can comfortably accommodate all the structures required for these proposed activities. We sincerely recognize the support and cooperation of Hon. Osondu Ezeh (Our PG), Mr. Patrick Omemgboji (Chairman Ndiagbonese), our eight community chairmen and our community Elders that contributed a lot towards acquiring this suitable land.

We are also delighted to state that we have registered with the Farmers Cooperative Society. Presently we have two Cooperative Society certificates from the state and have also registered under the state women Commission so that our women will not be left out in case of any benefits from the governments (State/LGA).

ASSISTANCE REQUIRED

1) Financial support to enable us carry out the construction of the Training Centre and procure some of the equipments for immediate takeoff.

2) Donations of relevant training equipment and construction materials.

(Please find attached the list and current prices of some of the equipment we need for setting up the relief / Skill acquisition centre).

3)  Your presence and support during our upcoming Inauguration and launching of the program which the date is scheduled for

19th APRIL, 2022, by 10am.

Venue: Umulagu Village Square, Ugba, Amoji- Nenwe is highly needed.

4)  Linking us with any authorities in your capacity that can contribute towards the success and sustenance of this program.

5) Any other form of support or assistance that you can think out in our favour.

6) May God bless your thoughts as you brainstorm with our folks in your contact.

CONCLUSION

We sincerely hope that if we get your full support towards implementing this laudable program, our young ones will grow to be useful and productive in our community. They will also successfully combat the moral vices that have attacked them for too long. No more idle hands for the devil's workshop.

We will also be succeeding in modernizing the life of our rural women in agriculture and trade. This will enrich them towards greater family support and help them cope with the daily challenges of life.

May God continue to bless you as we look forward to regular communication with you and your full cooperation in the life of this program.

NOL / PPFN MEDICAL OUTREACH (March 2022)

*THE MARCH 2022 NOL/PPFN MEDICAL OUTREACH IN NENWE: THE POST- MORTEM ANALYSIS REPORT*:

_How it came about, what was achieved, chronic underutilization of the hospital, and  Recommendation for rejuvenated Nenwe Cottage Hospital Center_

*HOW IT CAME ABOUT*  It was all by happenstance, inspired by the idea initially floated by Mrs. Ijeoma J.Ekeh (nee Ezeh), a member of the NOL family platforms upon her return from a service training  (Masters degree  Community Health)in the Netherlands.

When the chance to host the March 2022 Medical Outreach in Nenwe became open, NOL Board then learned that it had *less than ten days* to concretize feasible plans to enable it happen or risk losing the chance to other competing communities. To further complicate the matters for the NOL BOARD, _the platform was within the same time frame, hosting a fundraiser for a *security house to be built by the gate* of the Nenwe Cottage Hospital Center._ The prospect of losing the chance to leverage the PPFN open slot for the service of the Community was merely starting down, the NOL BOARD of Administrators rallied and quickly put together the NOL/PPFN Medical Outreach Committee. The Committee, with no viable option for soliciting for external funding support *had to rely on itself to come up with the seed money needed to take care of some of the basic logistic requirements for a successful outreach such as this*. The Committee and NOL Board of Administrators are so thankful for the financial and volunteer support that eventually came from *our NOL members*, and Community partners such as the *Emudo Nenwe Ambassadors Association, ENAA*

*WHAT WAS ACHIEVED*        The two- day, back-to-back (Thursday, March 10, & Friday, March 11, 2022) Community Medical Outreach program at the Nenwe Cottage Hospital Center was, by every account, a huge success.A total of 462 *documented outpatient* attendees showed up at the event in the course of the two days and in the following population spread:

*Day 1*:  213 patients were seen by the health service providers. Of this number, 47 males were screened for *prostate cancer*, and 72 females were screened for *cervical cancer*. The rest were screened for various health issues including HIV.

*Day 2*: 249 documented new out patients were attended to by the NOL/PPFN team of health service providers, an increase over the Day 1 event, suggesting an uptick in popularity of the services provided. Included in this number were 62 males who requested and were screened for prostate cancer, and 91 women that requested, and were screened for cervical cancer. The rest of the day 2 population presented various other health needs, and were attended to by the team of health service providers, according to the register.

As was expected, the clinical conditions flagged by then i healthcare providers varied in their levels or degrees of seriousness - some received stabilizing treatment, while referrals were arranged for the rest of the population at each of the 2 day events.

*UNDERUTILIZATION OF THE COTTAGE HOSPITAL CENTER* :

The organizers of the NOL/PPFN Medical Outreach noted with concern the reluctance of the locals to patronize the primary health center preferring to seek medical service, when needed, outside this State University Teaching Hospital-affiliated Center. Through live interviews of a cross section of the community the reasons for the underutilization came in different flavors of complexity. However, to help eliminate one of the barriers to full capacity utilisations of the hospital Center, the NOL/ PPFN team had to pay, for all attendees, the hospital Center requested patient cards. The payments were made to encourage recurring needed use of the hospital as a first line of contact by the Community residents in search of health care services. But the long term, and medium term solutions to the problems are much more than payment for the patient card.

*RECOMMENDATION FOR  REJUVENATED NENWE COTTAGE HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER*

As a practical solution to most of the hinderances to achieving full capacity utilization of the Cottage Hospital, the report strongly recommends an *overhaul or creation of a local management for the hospital that would be charged with direct day-to-day running of the  hospital*. This management team, to be effective and responsive to the needs of the Community, *must co-opt members of the Community who are well suited to serve as advocates of the hospital and the Nenwe Community*.

NOL EULOGY ......LATE MAZI POLYCARP TOTUS UGWUEKE

WHEN THE DEAD COULD NOT STAY DUMB THE ETERMENT OF LATE MAZI POLYCARP TOTUS UGWUEKE

"He came to us in the manner of a meteorite".

For the vast majority of the members of the NOL forum who did not know him before he made his colorful entrance into the forum, that was the aggregate shock reaction on learning the incredulous reality of his sudden passing to the great beyond in the first weeks of the New Year.

Late Mazi POLYCARP TOTUS UGWUEKE during his time at the NOL FORUM was very active in elevating the information available on the platform as entertaining, as they were informative. And that is just to put it most conservatively.

Indeed, he was a trailblazer, a self-motivator. For instance, at the time he joined the forum there were already a number of periodic publications or posts on the forum with religious bent including the "Doctrine & Faith". With his creative mind, he found a way to carve out a niche for his  particular brand of religious education and retreat: He embarked on a daily calendar serialization of the Catholic Saints. He was nose-dived into it with unparalleled devotion. Yet, he still found a way of making his daily publication interesting to non Catholics -  he introduced the saints, each of them, by their service records, as evidently a service to humanity. No one taught him that. He was self-taught.

Late Mazi Ugwueke uncannily found a riveting way of snappy discourse on  the works of James Hadley Chase, citing relevant titles to back up his position or line of argument in many of the heated but entertaining debates he waged on various topics here on the forum.

But on Thursday, just last Thursday, February the 10th, when his remains were buried in his beloved home of Nenwe, it was evident that he lived a life that touched many people positively, gauging by the strength and volume of the people who came to pay their respect to their "man of the people"

In his lifetime, casting a glance at such a lifeless body about to be buried,  he would have reached for his rich repertoire of James Hadley Chase titles and returned with the most appropriate for the situation: "The dead stays dumb".

But at his own funeral the mourners (many if whom travelled from afar to be there for him, as he would've for them) came to defy that prediction of James Hadley Chase: This dead could not stay dumb.

His legacy of love and community service live on, boldly.

The NOL Board of Administrators would like to express the appreciation of all those who extended their sympathy and condolences to the family, and friends of the late Mazi POLYCARP UGWUEKE.  In particular,  we  deeply appreciated the sacrifices made by Dr. Aaron Okorie, an Administrator and Board member,  and Prof Silas Nwenya  Director Of  Language and Culture Dept of the Nenweonlie University to be physically present at the funeral.

NOL EDITORIAL 2021

THE 2021-YEAR-END REVIEW:  A YEAR MARKED BY RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF THE GOOD OF ALL.                                            MAPPING THE NEAR                                                FUTURE

The NOL Board of Administrators would like to congratulate our community across the stable for another year of roaring success in its central vision of mobilization of our people to respond to the challenges of modernity per the needs of the community.

The Board acknowledges that the core principles of its vision came under strains at several need points in the course of the year in review. The NOL Board was in the clear when it made the decision not to directly use any of its platforms for the purposes of raising funds for any budgetary titles. That unsurprisingly went against the contemporary run of events in the public space. The Board believes in the innovative idea of reliance on the transparent use of the abundant human resources within and without the membership of the NOL family in rising to the challenges of Nenwe. Pursuant to this objective, the Board further believes that our best suited human resources can only be scanned out from a broad diversity of our population unhindered by restrictive admission requisites.

Unlike NOL  affiliate organizations, there's no forms to complete, no registration fees to pay, and no annual dues to think about before enrolment in any of NOL operating platforms including at the NOL University. In most cases prospective members are just required to be of Nenwe ancestry and preferably deep-seated interest in working together for the  upliftment of ourselves, &  Nenwe as a community. The Board remains unwavering to its commitment to the good of all Nenwe (Nenwe first doctrine), as a policy and politics.

In that frame of operation The Board would first like to report to you, our virtual community members, and other interested public, some of the unresolved problems facing all of us as the curtain is drawn on 2021. These issues will continue to be called into your attention as  carry-overs into the new year:

1) Permanent fix for the cyclical vandalization of public infrastructural utilities, including suspected arson on the local Police Station.

2) Continuing Scrutiny of the quality of work and upgrading at the Boys High School Nenwe.

3) Continuing Logistic Support to peaceful resolutions in the efforts to fill the outstanding open seats in the traditional administration in each of the  four Autonomous Communities or Kingdoms of Nenwe.

4)Conclusions and resolutions on the Chidalu Ugwueke saga.

... AND NOW, WITH YOUR SOLID SUPPORT,  HERE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS WE WERE ABLE TO GET DONE BY WORKING TOGETHER:

1) NEW PROGRAM AT THE NOL UNIVERSITY:

The affiliation with the International educational services. Under this program the university is continuously seeking financial aids in the form of scholarships to avail our interested members with possible further educational opportunities overseas, in the first instance, with minimum of risks.

2) SUPPORT FOR"THE DETAILS"

This us a weekender,  in-studio live -interview of business, academic and political headliners in Nigeria. The program was conceived, and anchored by one of us Mr. MARTIN OKAFOR.  Since inception NOL aptly adopted it as a potent opportunity to expand the reach, and create wider awareness of the program and the good name of Nenwe, to better reposition it for state and national conversations. The link up with Mr.Ndubisi Ebube Aniobi and Mr. Iyke Degreatest Udeh  remains our dream team.

3) THE INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED STUDIES IN  NENWE DIALECT & CULTURE OF THE NOLU.

With the Head of department and director of studies  Prof. Silas Nwenya concluding his sabbatical leave , the Institute is still thriving & doing  well with the addition of the 'volunteer'  Uche Mbah to the faculty. It's worthwhile to pause, and take notice that it has grown from a department to an Institute within the university.  The NOL Board remains grateful to the participants for their enthusiasm for the elevation, and preservation of Nenwe dialect, Culture and People.

4) THE ILLUSTROUS SEARCH AND RECOVERY OF ONE OF OUR OWN.

When late Mary Mbah (nee Olovo Ali) was reported missing after attending the end-of-year meeting of the Women's Wing of the N.I U. Lagos Branch was reported to the forum by the Matron of the Union Branch, Mrs. Geraldine Ekwe (nee Chukwubike), the alarm and anxiety in all of us was palpable. But it also brought out the best in us in rallying for our own, and the love for ourselves. The search, and recovery was total, and coordinated between Mrs. Ekwe, the Moderator Charles O Chukwubike, NOL, Manzi Clement Ebere, Dr. C.O Oleh and the family. Sadly, even with those efforts, Mrs. Mary Mbah, couldn't be found alive. She had since been buried in her husband's native home in Nenwe.

5)GRASSROOTS MOBILIZATION FOR VOTER REGISTRATION EXERCISES IN NENWE

With the inspiration and  support drawn from NOL, the PGs or their substitutes lent great hands in bringing the registration information to the doorsteps of our people back at home, without getting embroiled in political partisanship. The NOL Board is very grateful to Hon. Osondu Eze, PG, Amoji Town Hall, Elder Linus Mbah,   Chairman, NDA, Chief Gabriel Ejim, former PG, Amoji Nenwe. Their efforts are ongoing in sensitising our people for the most participation in the political  process.

One of the revolving facilitator roles of the NOL is  its unwritten affiliation with all the other organizations with a variety of service orientations & offerings for the development of Nenwe. The NOL readily grants these various organizations unfettered access to the use of its facilities as the marketplace for membership recruitment, program advertisements, and as sounding board for their projects including solicitations for expertise and technical know-how. Best known among these organizations, just to mention only 3, and their star accomplishments in the year under review include:

6) NIF & ITS MEDICAL MISSION:

The  Abuja based Nenwe Integrity Foundation, NIF, recorded a huge success when  it undertook the delivery of primary health-care to the the Nenwe Community early in the Fall, 2021. The NOL Board applauds their continuing charitable programs, and projects aimed at contributing to positive changes in Nenwe.

7) THE ENAA  - NOW AT CUSP OF RESOLVING THE FORMERLY INTRACTABLE POLITICAL POLARIZATION IN EMUDO NENWE.

Deriving, in part, from the good efforts & the unity of purpose among Emudo Nenwe people around the world; and the inspiration from NOL Board of Administrators, the Emudo Nenwe Ambassadors Association, ENAA, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, Abuja Nigeria, as Emudo Global Community Association invested a lot of financial, & human resources capital to help streamline, and restore normalcy in the traditional,  grassroots administration of the Emudo Kingdom. Additionally, and working in tandem under the "fierce urgency of now", members of this 2-year-old, worldwide organization have taken various initiatives to assist with enabling students, and schools in Emudo Nenwe attain higher educational accomplishments. And the Association is even planning for more in the form of physical infrastructural development of the Kingdom.

8) NDA &  THE INSTALLATION OF SPEED BUMPS ALONG MAJOR ROADS IN NENWE.

The Nenwe Diaspora Association, NDA, came into being at the height of insecurity in Nenwe Community. In the year under review the NDA  carried out ambitious projects involving the construction of speed humps at intervals along some major roads traversing the Community. This humanitarian, and development service has, as envisaged, helped reduce incidents of road mishaps in the areas covered by these bumps.

9) NOLU BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE PROJECT

The bridge to the future project of the NOL University, NOLU, is a mentorship program where the NOLU expertly matches a mentee with a mentor, approximately aligned for optimal chances of succes. The aim of this program of the University was to help some of our aspiring community members overcome initial, often encountered hurdles, in a timely manner, on the road to blossom in their chosen vocation by pairing them with members of the faculty and/ or community with cognizant experience. The field of expertise is quite wide,  not only academic but also trading and handcraft making  and other vocations in between.

MAPPING FOR THE NEAR FUTURE.

The NOL Board plans to, while continuing to stress on the existing , ongoing projects in the upcoming year,  have in place an annual dollar-denominated cash prize & plaque for the best grassroots leadership in Nenwe. Each winner would have shown extraordinary skills in bringing about any of the following in the community: peace, civic engagement,  mass participation in the political process, solving the problem posed by hunger, eradication of adult illiteracy, primary health-care awareness and practice, access to clean drinking water, etc. The winner/s will be announced at year-end award ceremony. Presently NOL  is soliciting for a generous sponsor of the cash prize, and in whose memorial it would serve.

Once again, The NOL Board of Administrators profoundly would like to thank you for your abiding interests in all we do. We do, however recognize, how much NOL depends on you, our community members, for  strength & for the continuation  on road of success. We value your inputs, particularly in terms of innovative, original ideas so as to cater for even more diverse, larger population of our people. Thank you.

Signed

Charles O Chukwubike
