ARC. UDEH PUSHES AHEAD, BAGS A Ph.D

Eye witness report;

Arc. Augustine Onyemaechi Udeh from Obeagu in Uhueze Nenwe pushes further in academics as he bags a Doctorate (Ph.D) at the University of Colorado, Boulder USA. He was conferred with Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D) Honoris Causa in Architectural Management, on 29th Nov. 2014. 

Part of the citation reads:  Arc. Udeh finished his secondary school at St. Vincent Secondary School Agbogugu with fourteen (14) credits,having registered Arts subjects in the then GCE and science subjects in May/June WAEC. He got his BSc Architecture (UNN) in 1986, and Msc Architecture in 19889 at the same University Of Nigeria. He equally had a PGD in Financial Management.
Arc. Udeh, A O is a member of the following professional bodies:

NIOB ----Nigerian Institute of Building 
CIS----   Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers
PMI----  Project Management Institute
Arc. Udeh is called to mind when one talks of the Map of Nenwe. He drew/ produced the Map and has been widely applied in Nenwe related articles and journals including NENWEONLINE. Apart from academics, he had been honored by Obeagu Uhueze and Nenwe Improvement Union. To me, Engr Ede T C, it has been one kudo after another, as I shout BRAVO!

 My Compatriots, we thank you for accepting our invitation to this turning point in Nigerian history. We are here to announce to all our countrymen our intention to win the 2015 Presidential Elections on the platform of the National Conscience Party. Our move is consequent upon our conviction that CHANGE is necessary in Nigeria now.
The dysfunction of almost all sectors in Nigeria under the current class of political rulers is very clear to all. With uncontrolled Corruption, Unemployment, Insecurity, Bad roads, poor Healthcare, low life expectancy, weak Education, flawed Elections, declining national Productivity, mass Poverty and epileptic Power, it has been a very sad story since 1999. This is why we propose CHANGE in Nigeria now. The general elections present a good opportunity for democratic CHANGE.
Currently, published reports indicate that, Nigeria has the lowest public power per capita in Africa. Power generation has remained just over 3,000 MW since 1999 even after we have spent ~$51Billion on power, since then. South African per capita power is about 60 times Nigerian per capita power. The 2013 WHO report shows life expectancy in Nigeria to be about 49 years for men, one of the lowest in the whole world. ‘Enough is Enough’.
Nigeria can CHANGE this 2015. From wrong to Right; insecurity to Security; unemployment to full Employment; evil to Good; mass deceit to Veracity; indiscipline to Discipline; under-development to Development; darkness to Light; abuse of power to Service; violence to Peace, hypocrisy to good Example; injustice to Justice; corruption to Integrity. This is the CHANGE we propose and wish to announce today.
The most critical and first step to achieve this CHANGE is to CHANGE the current political rulers that led us to this national predicament. The coming general elections present the appropriate opportunities for us to effect this CHANGE. To drive the CHANGE, Nigeria may need a Young, Strong, Articulate and Ethical, world-class engineering and management Professional as President.
The 10-care programme of our National Conscience Party will ensure the ‘Abolition of Poverty’. Our ‘Accelerated Development Agenda’ outlines the strategies to achieve these. Waste and Corruption can be controlled.
Our NCP ’10-Care Programme’ includes: Employment, Food, Health, Housing, Education, Water, Electricity, Transportation, Telecommunications and Security Care.
In addition, the electorate must see the need for good governance and elect younger, stronger, more professional and ethical candidates to serve Nigeria better.
• Our NCP government will reduce fuel price by improved domestic crude oil refining.
• We will increase minimum wage by reducing maximum wage, while maintaining the total wage bill.
• We will use about $9B to double power generation, transmission and distribution, in two and half years.
A proper evaluation of candidates based on Vision, Vigour, Integrity, Competence and national Acceptability, will reveal the best candidate.
We do not need an old, frail and sectional candidate or a clueless, corrupt, weak and ineffective candidate. A new breed, world-class engineering and management professional may be better to address our security problems and infrastructural inadequacies.
The National Conscience Party is distinct as it is the oldest party and it was founded by the late colossus, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, SAM, in 1994, out of the popular struggles we waged against, abuse of power, injustice and lawlessness. Our commitment to the principles of Integrity, Justice and development, clearly make us distinct.
We will lead by example.
In security, we will improve Intelligence, Surveillance, Response Time and Capacity. We will restore the pride and the effectiveness of our armed forces. We will robustly confront and expel Boko Haram from our territory if they do not surrender after a stern warning. We will correct the social weaknesses that result from bad governance that led to the Boko Haram insurgency and increased crime rate all over Nigeria.
The Police will be made more professional and the NSCDC will be motivated, trained and equipped for improved performance.
We know and hear of unimaginable corruption and ineffectiveness. We hear of $20B missing oil revenue, we hear of one of the highest ‘Road fatalities per year’ in the world, we hear of crude oil theft, we know of the kidnapped Chibok girls, we know of subsidy fraud, we hear of six legislators suspending over 20 of their colleagues, we know of our Governors and Ministers going abroad for medical care, we know of our ~70% poverty rate (despite our national wealth), we know of our national debt and looming debt crisis, etc.
We know we can do better with good governance. That is what we in the National Conscience Party (NCP) promise our Nigerian people. I accept to lead Nigeria with your support to a new dawn if elected President in 2015.

My certificates consumed by fire, Sambo tells INEC

Vice-President Namadi SamboAhead of the 2015 general elections, Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has told the Independent National Electoral Commission that his Bachelors and Masters degrees certificates in Architecture from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, have been consumed by fire.

Sambo, who is the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, made the declaration in the documents he filed with INEC and displayed on the commission’s office in Abuja although the details of the fire that consumed the certificates were not given.

Sambo’s papers were received and stamped in INEC headquarters between December 10 and 18, 2014.

The VP’s declaration was validated by two letters from the ABU, a copy of which was obtained by The PUNCH on Sunday.

The first letter, signed by one Alhassan Garba for the institution’s registrar under the title, “To Whom it may Concern: Mohammed Namani Sambo,” read, “I certify that the above-named person having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations was awarded the Bachelor of Science (Architecture) with Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in 1976 by the Senate of this University. His original certificate got burnt. Please treat his case in view of this certification. Thank you.”

The second letter, also signed by Garba for the ABU registrar, read, “I certify that the above-named person having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations was awarded the Master of Science (Architecture) on May 25, 1978 by the Senate of this University. His original certificate got burnt. Please treat his case in view of this certification. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, indications have emerged that only 13 political parties would field presidential candidates in the 2015 elections.

The parties and their candidates are the People Democratic Party, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan; the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.); Action Alliance, Tunde Anifowose-Kelani; Kowa Party, Prof. Oluremi Sonaiya; United Progressives Party; Chief Chekwas Okorie; and National Conscience Party, Chief Martin Onovo.

Others are African Democratic Congress, Dr. Ibrahim Nani; United Democratic Party, Godson Okoye; Alliance for Democracy, Rafiu Salau; Peoples Party of Nigeria, Kelvin Alagoa; Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Alhaji Ganiyu Oseni; African Peoples Alliance, Alhaji Adebayo Ayeni; and Hope Democratic Party, Ambrose Owuru.

"CAREER AWARENESS FOR NENWE YOUTHS..... by NIF

A group of Nenwe gentlemen under the name "Nenwe Integrity Foundation" (NIF), primarily based in Abuja for now is organizing a seminar tagged "CAREER AWARENESS FOR NENWE YOUTHS." 
This seminar is aimed at enlightening our sons and daughters who have often called and or approached some of us asking various questions on how to choose careers and professions. 

It is to bridge this gap that Nenwe Integrity Foundation (NIF), decided to organize this Seminar at Nenwe this December, 28th 2014. 

The seminar will focus on but not limited to the following areas:

• 1. The Military as a Profession, (to be handled by our son, Air Cdr Ben C Ugwueke of the Nigerian Air Force, Abuja (Confirmed participation).
• 2. Entrepreneurship/Skills Acquisition (by another son of ours, Patrick Chukwubike, Deputy Director, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Headquarters, Abuja (Confirmed participation).
• 3. University Admissions and it's attendant challenges, how to overcome them: ( our son, Mr. Leo O. Khama of the Registry Department, Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT)

Target Audience:
Senior Secondary school Students, Undergraduates and Fresh Graduates of Tertiary Institutions. We have already invited Principals and Students of selected schools in Nenwe.

  Dear Chris,In the Italian culture today is we celebrate your “ottavario”. It is the 8th day of someone’s death or burial. The person is remembered with a mass or in other cultural and traditional ways that might make some of our” Nigerian Christians” think twice about their opinion on “Ikwa-ozu nkwa lambo”. Remember we talked once on how some of our devoted Christians are entering into the black books of their Pastors because of this act. Remember, we discussed on the problems one faces when he comes home, with reconciling himself again with the “Nigerian Christianity and the neo Nigerian Christians” I told you that I do not consider it a blasphemy nor sin that I do not do (sometimes even advice opposite) what our Parish priest at home preach to our people. Well, dear Mono, good or bad   we remembered you and will still do it again in many other ways. A mass started it anyway. I don’t know when you will read this mail; someone said that it will be on the last day, if it is so I will be coming with it then. Some other person said the last day could be  .now, today, tomorrow, and one hundred years to come; another said it is all over… Just a moment: did you ever understand this catechism before “crossing over there”? Hey, either way anytime you see me ask for a copy. I just want to share again with you those stories and moments that we passed together which always brought different feelings and sensations anytime we met. The last time was in June 2003. It was 1966/67 and the returnees were flooding home from all parts of the federation,the schools were filled with those “foreign Nenweraians”. Some never spoke Nenwei nor Igbo. The Mbanwarus, Nwaruezes, Kanus, Mbahs, Chukwus, Alintas etcYou were there in elem 5c with me, Ngozi Mbah (Agbada), Rebecca Ani (now Mrs. Ndubisi),Bonny nwarueze, Osy Allwell, Mike Ogbete etc: Some of you were also coming from St Paul’s  Agbada and St David’s Obuovu which had only elem 4. You all were new to us. The returnees like you were viewed as more intelligent pupils than we locals probably because you spoke only English, but this wrong opinion vanished after the first test and exams, we saw we were all Elem 5     pupils with individual capacities and developments. Our courage came back. Both parts practiced a great rivalry and some “discrimination”.

  

  
  You got your first “guy name” (man pass man) from the essay/composition   the late Willy Ugwueke (choir master) told us to write on our fathers compound. …… Man pass man…. But nothing passes God…..The war intensified late Rev Fr Orji came home, we were serving him and the Parish priest Rev Fr Eze from Nsukka. We both “stole” and ate Rev Fr Orjis host for the communion under the guide of one “bad boy”. We felt like Adam and Eve the next day at the morning mass and never did it again. I continued to think we would end up in hell (Oku Nmuo) for that until Fr Orji talked to us. None of us told him what we did, then how he knew of it was   a mystery to us then.The militiamen came to County and St Peters and we enrolled with the Boys Company in county under Charlie Agwu of Mgbowo/Maryland USA). I went to Agbogugu  for further training and lost you. Agbogugu, Nenwe, Agwu fell to the Nigerians and you escaped with Rev Orji to the PH/ Uguta  war front. My father- MBC told me during the war when he met you people at a dangerous spot, you confirmed it after the war.”.. I saw that your friend the son of Chief D.K Mbah., he is  living with Father Orji  and I have advised Father Orji to go away from war zones but  I know he will not listen …. Rev Fr Orji: your tales about him and his activates (helping Biafran soldiers and civilians in surviving the enemies) during the war would make  a big book and the South American Jesuits jealous. 
  The civil war ended and we found ourselves again at St Peters and could not finish exchanging stories of our 25 months separation before we were due again for another road.St Johns Seminary Nsukka   saw both of us, and during the week of entrance exams and selection we all prayed to be selected to be together in the seminary and probably to become priests same time ( easy sweet dreams).Both of us were selected but as you know, some forces that I came to understand later stood between St Johns, you and me.  I went to the almighty County and you stayed at St John’s. However, County continued to be our meeting point during the holidays either for  holiday studies or those unending table tennis tournaments. Remember Inno. Ezeh-Mobutu, now at Oji River (anesthesiologists),  Ume Jilmin the best player, D.mbah, Law Nwarueze-playing with left hand , Charlie Nwarueze, Aaron Okorie –if he was not with S. O at Enugu, Clem. Nwogidi, (then a student of Tai Solarin’s Mayflower collage Ikene) and a host of others.It was on one of these outings during the holiday at County that you met me under a mango tree after better or lucky players eliminated us and confided in me you problems and intention to leave St John’s. According to you I was the first to know and you asked my advice and possible ways of getting about admission. A bitter decision for you and difficult assistance you were requesting from me.  To be continued……
